Why homes around here need one
An open flue collects nests and lets driving rain run down into the firebox. In a neighborhood of older Paterson and Clifton houses, a missing or rusted cap is common. We measure the flue, supply a stainless or galvanized cap that fits, and fasten it so wind does not lift it.
This is the cap only. We do not sweep the flue, rebuild brick, or repair the damper. If the crown is crumbling or the flue tile is broken, we will stop and tell you before putting a new cap on a chimney that needs a mason.
The install includes
- A look at the existing crown and flue opening
- A cap matched to that opening
- Fasteners suited to the chimney material
- Removal of a failed cap when one is already up there
