What we do
We disconnect the dryer, brush and vacuum the duct through to the exterior hood, and put the connection back together. You should feel a clear stream of air at the outside vent when the dryer runs. If the hood flap is stuck or the duct is crushed, we point that out.
Homes with a long duct run, a vent that exits the roof, or a dryer that needs two cycles to finish a load are the ones that benefit most. A yearly cleaning is a reasonable rhythm for a busy household.
You will notice
- Shorter drying times when the duct was packed with lint
- Less heat in the laundry room
- The outside hood flapping open while the dryer runs
- A note from us if the duct routing itself is the problem
